Late-night hosts, including Jon Stewart, have ridiculed the president's awkward and unfunny performance. During The Daily Show, Stewart observed that Trump's attempt at humor was interrupted by an uneventful day of peace between the US and Iran. The host quipped that Trump's choice to bomb at the dinner rather than the strait of Hormuz was unexpected. "Normally I'd say don't quit your day job but in this case... I will make an exception," Stewart said.

Stewart played a series of clips showcasing Trump's poorly received jokes, including a botched roast that interrupted by attacking the target, Adam Schiff, and a poorly timed insult about his head size. The host suggested that Trump's issue with humor stems from having spent too long in an "magical world of his own creation" where his actions and statements received only positive reinforcement. Trump was criticized for blaming others for his own failures, likening himself to a skilled carpenter who always places blame on his tools.

Seth Meyers also mocked Trump's routine on Late Night, describing it as "so great that everyone was stunned into silence." Meyers referred to Trump as the "first cool-down comic in history," suggesting that his performance only cooled down his already lukewarm audience's excitement. When asked about Trump's suitability for comedy, Meyers joked that Trump was better for comedy than he is at it.
